This rich, fudgy slab of flourless chocolate cake is topped with a light, marshmallowy meringue. If you’re short on time, feel free to skip the meringue and serve the cake plain with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. No one will complain, I assure you!
The cake portion of this recipe is modestly adapted from Magnolia Bakery in NYC and the frosting comes from Cook’s Illustrated. Together, they make an old-fashioned chocolate cupcake that is sweet enough for children but also intensely chocolate enough for adults.
