Book-Announcement

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been working on an exciting project for months and I’m thrilled to finally share it with you: I’m writing a cookbook! The book will be published by Chronicle Books and released in the spring of 2018. I know, I know…it seems like an eternity from now, but I’m hoping it will be worth the wait. The book will contain 100 recipes – mostly new, as well as a few favorites from the site – along with 140 professionally shot photographs. Hooray for lots of photos!

This book is a longtime dream of mine. After leaving the restaurant business when my son was born 12 years ago, I spent a few years at home before deciding that I wanted to get back into the food world – specifically, I wanted to write a cookbook. I quickly realized that I had absolutely zero chance of getting published as an unknown so, at the advice of my younger (and hipper) sister, I started a cooking blog instead. It seemed like a great way to still do what I wanted and get myself “out there.”

Eventually, thanks to all of you, the blog flourished into a busy recipe site with 4 million monthly page views and a wonderful, engaged community of readers. I forgot about the book and the blog became my passion. But somewhere still lurking in the back of my mind was that dream to write a cookbook with beautiful photos and stories. Now, finally, I get to write that cookbook after all.

I’ll still be posting new weekly recipes on the site and responding to your comments and questions. I’ll also keep you posted on the book as it comes to life. There’ll be some fun behind-the-scenes cookbook snapshots in my newsletter (subscribe here), and you can always see what I’m cooking daily on Instagram

So, that’s my big news. Thanks so much for sharing my recipes with your friends and families over the years. You’ve helped make this cookbook a reality and I’m so grateful!

    I am so glad that your cookbook is in the works! I have used quite a few of your recipes and everything, without an exception, has been delicious. It is a big plus that your recipes do not call for lots of ingredients and what you use is readily available at most grocery stores here in the US. Also, your instructions are clear and easy to follow. You are my favorite in the cooking world!

  • Great news having a hard copy of your outstanding cooking ideas? Thought about the binding at all? I would pay extra for a spiral bound book that will open and lay flat on the counter. That is a huge plus as one references the book while cooking.

  • Hello, We’re loving your recipes! Family of 6 living in Melbourne. I’ve cooked many of your delicious recipes over the years and our family and friends think they are scrumptious and healthy too! We’re opposite seasons to USA but we usually manage to have all the fresh produce in OZ anyway. Your detailed image recipes are very easy to follow. I would always just take recipes from the Internet and look at reviews but now I solely go to your site and have used many of the recipes. As we get closer to the release date, I will definitely be putting information on the blog about how to purchase one– thanks for your interest.

My whole family knows you on a first-name basis, and when I mentioned recently that I had cooked a “Once Upon a Chef” recipe — again — my 16-year-old son said, “I’m starting to like this woman on a personal basis!” And I say: Me too!

Since finding your website over two years ago I can honestly say I check your recipes first when looking for something delicious & new for dinner or a solid recipe for something familiar.   • Jenn, I am so happy for you. I was always curious as to when you would start a cookbook. From all sites I’ve tried recipes from, yours never disappoints. To this day I religiously use your Caesar salad dressing and Middle Eastern chicken kabob recipes (just to name a few) as my go to. Everyone raves about how good it is!! And can’t forget the rice pilaf with almonds and dried fruit. I could go on haha! Anyways, I just wanted to say I look forward to your book and congratulations on your journey to publishing one!

    I am so excited about your cook book. I really love your recipes. They are so delicious that I always look forward to making them. I had one request though. I am a vegetarian and it would be AWESOME if you could include more vegetarian recipes but of course, I understand that might not be your main audience 🙂 Either ways, I love the recipes that I can try and will surely buy your book. Good luck and I would love to test recipes if that would help.
