Jenn, just made the beef satay from your cookbook and WOW, just WOW. I am not on social media so no place to post a review other than here. You are going to put all the take out places around me out of business because this was out of this world good and so easy. My 7 year old and his buddy devoured 5 skewers each. Served with brown rice and roasted broccoli. This would be easily adapted to chicken or grilled tofu.
We entertain our family and friends quite often and I’ve come to rely upon Jenn for recipes that are first delicious, but also accessible, easy to prepare with commonly available ingredients. Nothing pleases guests like simple and delicious. Here’s a secret, if you struggle AT ALL with a recipe, just email Jenn. She really ties to help and emails back. She’s dedicated to improving our plates and palates! We use several of her recipes in our everyday rotation. Good luck on the new book, mine is pre-ordered!
❤️
Jenn, Will you be coming to Canada? If so, when and where – I’d like to pick up your book there if possible. Everything I’ve made of yours is divine! Thanks, Annie
Hi Annie, so glad you enjoy the recipes! Not sure where in Canada you live, but I will be in Toronto on the 17th of this month (exact location to be determined). I’d love to meet you, but if you’re not able to get there, you can order the book from Amazon. Thanks so much for your support! ❤️
Jenn,
SO happy for you and that your cookbook is a BIG success! You deserve it! You were so generous with your time creating and perfecting all of your wonderful recipes! I love my cookbook and I got one for my mom too!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for all your support — Glad you’re enjoying the cookbook and hope your mom likes it too! 💗
Hi Jennifer,
I received my 3 copies (1 for me, 2 for friends) this past week. What a wonderful cookbook! It has the same feel as your website, which has kept me coming back for years, much to my family’s happiness. Thanks for this book, and for all you have done for us over the years to provide delicious meals for those we love. I look forward to seeing you in Toronto on May 17. I hope you find time to relax a bit after this endeavour, and after your book tour..
Hi Sheila, Thanks so much for purchasing the book and for your very kind words — Happy to hear you like what you see so far! ❤️ Looking forward to meeting you in Toronto!
Made the garlic & herbs roasted baby potatoes. AMAZING ❤️ With pork chops. Can’t wait for my next recipe, not sure yet which one 🤔
Congratulations Jennifer! The book is Number 5 on the Washington Post’s Bestsellers list, under Nonfiction/General. How exciting!
Thanks so much for your support, Josseline! ❤️
I was just wondering if many of the recipes in your new book are gluten free. I’m not completely on a gf diet but do feel better when I can manage it. Thanks, Anne
Hi Anne, some of the recipes in the book are gluten-free (but generally just happen to be that way versus being designed to be). Also, some recipes that have gluten-containing ingredients can be tweaked to be gluten-free. Hope that clarifies and thanks for inquiring!
Made the Glazed Pumpkin Pound cake; It was an absolutely winner!!! I also made the grilled beef satay with peanut sauce accompanied by thai crunch salad with peanut dressing and black bean & corn salad with chipotle honey vinaigrette to raves from the husband and in-laws. Having so much fun with the new book!!! My girls and I love your website.
So happy you’re enjoying the book, Jane…happy cooking! 🙂
JUST received your cookbook in the mail yesterday. We live in Canada so it’s a bit later than in the US. Can’t wait to try some of the recipes!
Just wanted to say it’s beautiful and it will sit with my Modernist Cuisine book on my counter.
Thank you, Naz! I hope you find lots of new favorites! 🙂
I love your website Jenn, and you do have the best recipes. I was so excited to get your book yesterday, but really disappointed there were only 16 main courses recipes in the book. I base my sides, salads, desserts, off my main course…and there were hardly any dinner recipes to chose from. The book is beautiful, just wish there were more main course in a book that was almost 300 pages. I still will always be a fan of your recipes. Simply giving advice to add more dinner recipes in your next book. Best of luck to you!
Thank you so much for the feedback, Stacey. Many of the soups, salads, and appetizers can also be served for dinner. Check out the crab cakes, beef satay, spanakopita, beef & barley soup, chicken tortilla soup, Sam & Harry’s steak salad, etc. Hope that helps! 🙂
I can not put off ordering your cookbook any longer. I do not want to miss a single recipe! Jen, you are my go to site when I entertain or want to try something new. Thanks for sharing your talents and creativity. If you come to Cleveland or Pittsburgh I will be there!
Thanks so much, Kathy – I hope you enjoy the cookbook! xo
Will you come to the San Francisco Bay Area?
I don’t currently have any plans to be in San Francisco, but if that changes, I will definitely provide updates on my blog – thanks for inquiring!
I have been enjoying your cookbook! My daughter wanted me to tell you that she loves your Kale and Walnut pesto. She is a pesto lover. She helped me make the pesto and loved it! My husband said it’s better than those served in the restaurants. I love it that it’s very light! My son loves to bake. He helped me twice already to bake Cinnamon Swirl Bread. My family was so excited to eat the first loaf. My church friends loved the apple oat pecan crisp! I love what you said about ordering food when serving a big crowd! So nice to hear that from a chef! Enjoying people and the presence is so much more important than serving a perfect meal. Congratulations on the success of your cookbook!
Thanks so much, Lynne. Glad to hear you’re enjoying recipes from the cookbook already! I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. ❤️
Jenn! I spent the entire weekend reading your cookbook, literally like a page turner! It is informative and very special how you intersperse your family and special moments throughout. That’s what eating is all about, isn’t it? The coming together of friends and family and sharing special moments over great eats! I just have to say, thank you and what a fantastic compilation of recipes! Sunday night I made the pan-seared halibut and roasted Swiss chard with feta. So you know I have a “bad” reference when it comes to (plain ‘ol steamed) Swiss chard. But I threw [it] up to God and went for it. hahahaha…. I can’t believe I *love* Swiss chard (okay the feta might have something to do with it.) And the fish dish, which I was craving, had more flavour than I anticipated. As is the usual case, little was leftover for the next day and my husband “scored” given his zero pantry-stalked workplace kitchen. :0) Please accept my sincerely congratulations on your recipe book launch. You have spent so much time paying it forward (making us amateurs look so good,) you deserve every ounce of positivity coming your way. Yours is a gorgeous book and one I will be gifting to my family for Mother’s Day and birthdays throughout the year.
Cheers to you!
Nicole
Thanks so much for your kind words and your support with the cookbook!! So glad you like what you see so far and that you are now officially a swiss chard eater! 🙂
Ugh…wish we’d ordered from Amazon, because we’re so eager for your new recipes! Ordered from Barnes and Noble, who just notified of another delay and up to five more days before the book ships. Wish I had more patience!
So sorry you’re dealing with these delays, Mary – I hope it arrives soon!!
I received your cookbook on April 26! Although I haven’t had a chance to read it yet (We have a 9 month old!), I’m hoping to have a perusal ASAP! I’m almost tempted to buy a second one since I want to keep it in pristine condition — that way I won’t worry if food splatters get on it 🙂
I won’t be able to make your Toronto shindig, but hopefully when you write a second cookbook, I can make it 😀
🙂 Hope you enjoy the cookbook!
I just received my copy yesterday and I can’t wait to try ALL of the recipes. Congratulations Jenn! Looking forward to your event in Toronto!
Thanks for purchasing the cookbook – hope it becomes an often used tool in your kitchen! Look forward to meeting you in Toronto! 🙂
Congratulations! I just bought your cookbook too. Can’t wait to dive in as I have enjoyed and benefited from your website/blog for a number of years. Well done!!!!!
Thank you, Shannon!! XOXO
Bravo Jenn! What an accomplishment! I am a longtime fan of your recipes. I didn’t think I needed another cookbook, but your book is terrific!! So many wonderful recipes that I will definitely use over and over. I am thrilled for your success. Thank you for helping me feed my family successfully for all these years.
Thanks for your very sweet words, Lisa – so glad the recipes are ones that you have been happy to feed your family. I hope you find lots of new favorites in the book! 💗
Hi Jen 😃
Just bought my book, Barnes & Noble .
I’m so happy !
Can’t wait to start cooking.
Beautiful book , congratulations ❤️
Please come to Fort Lauderdale – Fl
Thanks so much for purchasing the cookbook – I hope it becomes an often-used tool in your kitchen! No plans to come to Florida right now, but I will definitely provide updates if that changes. 🙂
Hi Jenn, I received your cookbook last night and just wanted to say you did an amazing job of it – so many helpful points and beautiful pictures and of course, the wonderful recipes – can’t wait to try them! Just wanted to say how impressed I am and thank you for creating such a wonderful cookbook it will be a great gift to give friends as well! Cindy
Hi Cindy, Thanks so much for purchasing the cookbook! Glad to hear you like what you see so far — I hope it becomes an often-used tool in your kitchen!
Hi Jenn, I pre-ordered at least a month ago via Amazon; still haven’t received the book yet. I thought I’d let you know in case it’s been happening to other viewers also. Wouldn’t it be great if they received so many orders they couldn’t fulfill them all! 🙂 I placed another order today.
Hi Gina, I’m sorry that you’ve had a problem receiving the book! I’ve only heard from one other reader that they had the same predicament. I’d suggest reaching out customer service at Amazon. (I’d love to be more helpful, but your best bet is to deal with them directly.) I hope it’s worth the wait! 🙂
Just got my cookbook and I am so excited! And it is so beautiful! Your recipes are at the top of the list in my house, can’t wait to break out some new ones. Congratulations on this amazing project.
Thanks so much for your support, Jen – and hope you enjoy the cookbook! xoxo
I just received my book as an early Mother’s Day gift from my daughter. I love it and can’t wait to try the recipes. I follow your blog and occasionally refer to the Nutritional Information listed at the end of the recipe. Is there a place where I can locate the Nutritional Informational on items in the book?
Hi Sandy, so glad you like what you see of the cookbook so far (and happy early Mother’s day)! I wasn’t able to include nutritional information in the book due to space limitations, but if there are any recipes that you’re particularly curious about, feel free to give me a few to calculate for you. I have a program that makes it very easy!
I’ve been eagerly anticipating the arrival of your book and it certainly didn’t disappoint. What I love about your recipes is that they are reliable, do-able and it’s the kind of food that everyone want to eat. ❤️ Congratulations on the publication of your beautiful book. Wishing you continued success. I’ll be anxiously awaiting for book #2…..and hoping that you’ll consider a swing though Northern California….maybe on the way to Napa Sonoma, perhaps?
Hi Margie! So happy the book arrived safe and sound – and that you like it! I would love to come to Northern California…
I got your book yesterday. I read it, flipped every page to the end. I saw so many recipes I liked and pinned to try. Some I remembered seeing on the blog. I enjoyed the fact that every recipe had a photo, that’s huge! Photos inspire a lot visually to want to make a dish. However I really enjoyed all the pro tips on the side of the pages as well for options. The Salting section was quite funny, yet true as most people undersalt I’ve also heard. I’ve done it too!
But what I found most enjoyable and heartfelt gratitude if I could find the right words even, was that there was a page or two dedicated to thanking ALL the readers and recipe testers that help make it all possible. I’ve never quite seen that before. As in the moments of silence I took to think, I found that truly special for all the recipe testers who helped made your dream possible with the book.
So sweet, Urban – thank you! I’m so happy you like the book. And it’s 100% true that I would never have had the opportunity to write this book without all the readers who support me. After working long hours in the restaurant business for years, I am very grateful to be able to work from home and raise my kids and do what I love every day. ❤️
I just added the book to my Father’s Day wishlist. I also submitted a request to the Prince Georges County (Maryland) library system recommending a purchase. Good luck with the book and keep ’em coming! If you find yourself of this side of the Capital Beltway sometime, you need to let us know!
Thanks so much for your support, Joe! I truly appreciate it (and hope you receive the book for Father’s day). 🙂
I just filled out the raffle form, wrote a review on Amazon and put in a link to Facebook, except I don’t have any photographs yet and won’t within the next few days as I’ll not be in the kitchen for a while.
How do I submit my entry? There’s not an obvious button to push. Do I need to have all the items filled in?
Hi Chuck, thanks so much for leaving a review and no worries about not having any pics! For each entry method, there is a drop down that should have a light blue button in the bottom right corner that says “Enter.” You just need to check that after filling in whatever information is requested (like for “review the book online, it will ask where you reviewed the book). Hope that clarifies!
Hi Chuck, I went ahead and entered you into the giveaway. It’s on a separate page here but no worries, you’re covered!
It is awesome!!!!
Amazon just sent me a note that I will get my pre-ordered copy of your book on Thursday, April 26th…
It’s available in Germany as well!!!
I will place orders for 2 more copies right now (as presents).
Take care, Harald
Thanks so much, Harald – I so appreciate your support and hope you enjoy the cookbook! 🙂
It just came! Wonderful.
What’s the dish depicted on the cover? I want to make that right away!
Hope you enjoy it, Chuck! The recipe on the cover is the Heirloom Tomato Salad with Burrata, Pesto, and Pine Nuts. You can find it on page 84. 🙂
You must be very proud of your accomplishment! And I certainly will enjoy that salad. My local Price Chopper/Market 32 does indeed carry burrata, which I enjoy a lot.
I am very excited — thanks so much for your support (and enjoy the salad)!
Jenn, I received your beautiful cookbook last night and was up until 2:30 am looking through the book and enjoying every moment. I liked how you added the “pro-tips” and other notes to so many recipes.
My mother taught all four of her children (boys included) to learn how to cook at a young age. Well it’s been 57 years now of me spending time in the kitchen and I must say thanks to creative chefs like you I am still enjoy it. Thanks Jenn and congratulations.
Good for your mom for teaching her kids such an important life skill! Glad you like what you see in the cookbook (and that it was interesting enough to keep you awake until the wee hours of the morning)! I so appreciate your support! 💗
I just received my copy of the cookbook- it came out beautifully!! I have made so many of your recipes and was someone who participated in recipe testing! I am truly honored to have my name printed in the back! Thank you for not only bringing so much thought into each recipe , but also for inviting your readers as well- it makes this very special and personal for all of us!!
Glad you’ve received the book and like what you see so far. (And I so appreciated the help of my recipe testers – the book couldn’t have happened without my wonderfully loyal readers!) xoxo
Jenn, I was so excited to receive your cookbook in the mail yesterday! It’s beautiful inside and out and I can’t wait to try many of the recipes in there. Great job!! Your blog and recipes have helped me so much over the years and my family and friends are always very impressed when I make your dishes. Even my kids tell their friends about how amazing your recipes are! Thank you for inspiring me! XO
Thanks so much for your kind words — glad your family and friends enjoy the recipes! I hope you enjoy the recipes in the book just as much. XO
JUST GOT YOUR BOOK in the mail today! So excited to try out my first dinner (well, I think my boys are more excited, actually).
Thanks for purchasing it, Oak — Hope the whole family enjoys their first meal from it!
Congratulations Jenn! I’m so happy for you! I received my copy today and just finished reading it. The recipes look great and it feels just like your site! I even looked for the “Comments” section a few times.
🙂 Thanks for purchasing the cookbook! I hope it becomes an often-used resource in your kitchen.
Just spent a happy hour+ paging through this beautiful book! The clear, easy communication style of the blog comes through so well. Photography is beautiful. I love the heft and feel of each page (odd comment, but it appeals to the whole tactile experience!). Congratulations to you and those who helped this come to life. I look forward to digging in!
Thanks so much for your kind words, Betty! Glad you like what you see thus far and hope you find lots of new favorites to prepare! ❤️
I pre-ordered! My book arrived today – It’s gorgeous! Wonderful photos! I enjoyed the introduction almost as much as your blog story about your Nuts n’ Bolts recipe. I’m already tagging pages with sticky flags. I’m heading out immediately to buy glass jars and Kirby pickles. Can’t wait to work my way through your beautiful cookbook!
Thanks so much, Lisa! I hope you find lots of new favorite recipes! (And enjoy the pickles 🙂 )
Congratulations, Jen! Your cookbook looks amazing! I just requested it be purchase by my local library and I can’t wait to get my very own copy. Years and years of hard work are paying off!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Connie! I seriously have the best, most supportive readers! XO
Jenn,
I received the book yesterday as I was so excited to read through it. I have to say how refreshing it is to have a cookbook made with the true love of cooking. I have followed your blog for awhile now, and when you announced you were working on your life dream I was truly happy for you.
Congratulations and I wish you many years of success.
Jacqueline
Thank you, Jacqueline – I so appreciate your support and hope you find many new favorites in the cookbook! ❤️
I will see you in NYC in May! Just reserved my spot! So exciting! Can’t wait to get home tonight to look through your book! Congratulations!!!
Thanks for your support, Olga!! I hope you get to meet you in NYC! 🙂
