Exciting Cookbook News!

Hi All,

I hope everyone is staying safe during these crazy times. This has been a challenging year, to say the least, but I’m happy to have some good news to share. I’m writing another cookbook!

Once Upon a Chef: Weeknight/Weekend will be released by Clarkson Potter in the fall of 2021. The book will contain 70 quick-fix weeknight recipes for that hectic window between soccer practice and bedtime, as well as 30 leisurely recipes for the weekend, when a few hours of unscheduled bliss stretch before you.

In the Weeknight section of the book, I’ll show you how to create flavorful, restaurant-quality family meals – even on a busy schedule. The recipes reflect my way of thinking that dinner does not always have to be a protein, a vegetable, and a starch. Sometimes it’s a hearty soup, a vibrant salad, a hot baked sandwich, or even breakfast food. Some favorites include:

  • Southwestern Corn Chowder
  • Blackened Fish Tacos with Pickled Onions and Lime Crema
  • Muffuletta Salad with Olive Vinaigrette
  • Indonesian BBQ Chicken with Spicy Cucumber Peanut Salad
  • Eggs in Purgatory with Garlic Toast
  • Everyday Spice-Crusted Salmon with Tartar Sauce
  • Grilled Sausage with Sweet and Tangy Peppers
  • Croque Monsieurs
  • Drunken Noodles with Shrimp
  • Creamy Dijon Chicken with Peas
  • Sesame Ginger Meatballs

The Weekend section of the book will be filled with my favorite recipes for laid-back brunches, family feasts, and decadent desserts. These recipes require time to rise, stew, braise, or bake – perfect for when your schedule isn’t packed to gills – such as:

  • Roasted Cherry Tomato & Basil Quiche
  • Popovers with Salted Maple Butter
  • Cranberry, Orange, and Walnut Scones
  • Shrimp & Sausage Paella
  • Chicken Tamale Pie
  • Roast Tenderloin with Horseradish Cream Sauce
  • Latin-Style Pork Roast with Chimichurri and Black Beans
  • Strawberries & Cream Layer Cake
  • Triple Chocolate Cheesecake
  • Sweet Potato Praline Pie

I’ve been quietly working on this book for the past year and am so excited to share the news with you. As always, thanks so much for your support!

 xo Jenn

  • I’d be delighted to be a recipe tester! I’ve been cooking with your recipes for the past 6+ years! Once, my daughter and I went to a cooking class in NYC whose “theme” was summer picnics. At the end of the class, we both decided that we didn’t like the class’s cole-slaw–that we each had our own favorite and better recipe. We were surprised and tickled to learn that we were each talking about YOUR Asian Slaw w/ ginger dressing!

  • Wonderful news! I use your recipes all the time, they are all winners! They get rave reviews from family and friends. My son is now out on his own, and he loves your recipes too. I preordered the last cookbook, and I’ll preorder this as well. I already signed up as a tester, so hopefully you’ll need my help.

  • Can’t wait!! My family has loved every one of your recipes I’ve made. During Covid you’ve helped us have some memorable and delicious meals. Quarantine or not what’s better than making and enjoying a great meal with family? Thank you Jenn!

  • Great news. My niece and I discovered our mutual love of your recipes! Will buy her a copy next year.

  • I have been a fan of yours for a few years and I was a taster for your first cookbook. I would be honored to be a taster once again. Love your fresh approach to cooking allowing the flavors to shine through,

  • While your cookbook was a birthday gift from my sister as she kept hearing so often about my raving about your recipes, it was my 22 year old son who cracked it open to make the wonderful Moroccan grilled chicken! I have stack an inch thick of so many your recipes printed so I can clip them up to read and prepare. Ben has begged me to please put in a binder. Often we split up a recipe to make cooking even shorter . When he makes one of your recipes he sets out all the ingredients just like your pictures. I know he would also really enjoy being a team with me testing your recipes. We enjoy everyone we have tried but really lean to all the flavor in your ethnic choices. Congratulations!!!

  • Such great news to read! My go-to Chef ! Everything always turns out great! I have made sooo many of your recipes. Thank you!!

  • Jenn, I’ve followed you for years! My kids gave me your cookbook for my birthday and I spread “the gospel of Jenn” to my family and friends. I cannot tell you how many people are now making your blueberry scones. And zucchini bread. And pecan-crusted chicken tenders. I’m a home cook. Not a chef. But my family (4 children, 3 children-in-laws, and 4 grandchildren) think I’m a pretty good cook. I’d LOVE to help with your next cookbook.
